Horse riding, Bourail fair and hiking in the "Parc des Grandes Fougères"

Horse riding

The last weekend we spent in pure nature! Our adventure already started friday with a horse riding trip (almost 3 hours) near La Foa. The landscape there is just beautiful and I really enjoyed being on a horseback… I miss it so much. The horses and the beautiful nature made us really happy.

Das letzte Wochenende haben wir auf dem Land verbracht – Natur pur sozusagen! In der Nähe von La Foa haben wir am Freitag einen fast dreistündigen Ausritt gemacht. Die Landschaft dort ist einfach nur traumhaft schön. Zudem habe ich es so genossen nach langem mal wieder zu reiten. Das fehlt mir so sehr… Die Pferde und die schöne Natur haben uns alle sehr glücklich gemacht! ;)

Bourail fair

The host city of this agricultural and craft fair is Bourail, that is why this fair is called “Bourail fair”. It is one of the biggest events in New Caledonia and a perfect occasion to discover the western Caledonian way of living – the bush and cowboy life. There are many different stands with local products and culinary tastings, stock cars, a lot of animations such as motocross, sheepdoging, logging competitions, equestrian games and rodeo.  

Die Landschafts- und Handwerksmesse ist eines der größten Events in Neukaledonien. Einmal im Jahr tummelt sich somit fast die ganze Insel in Bourail ;) Für uns eine ideale Gelegenheit das Kaledonische Cowboy-Leben der Westküste kennenzulernen. Neben zahlreichen Ständen mit lokalen Produkten gibt es verschiedene Attraktion wie Zuchtschauen, verschiedene Wettbewerbe, Tanzaufführungen, Wahl der Miss New Caledonia und als Hauptattraktion das Rodeo zu sehen!

Claquette Cup (Flip-flop Cup)

This cup is about throwing a flic-flop as far as you can. There are no special rules to follow... The distance of the throw depends on the wind conditions and your technique of course, that´s all. We had a lot of fun while watching this spetacle. But I am still wondering who the hell came up with such an idea? ;)   

Wer zum Himmel denkt sich sowas aus - Flip-Flop-Weitwurf?! ;) War schon ein bisschen komisch das mit anzusehen aber wir haben gut gelacht! Dieser Cup ist sozusagen Tradition hier. Wer am weitesten wirft, gewinnt! ;)
